What the "public health" establishment has done is turn fear into a virtue. Those who remain afraid believe they're better, more virtuous people than those who don't. It will be difficult to un-do this.

"Many...will feel compelled to carry on with this pathological behavior, either because their ignorant parents will force them to wear a mask, or because fearful teachers will encourage masking."

or worse- (speaking from personal experience) because they've gotten used to it and like it.

So, Monday March 7 ? - how did it go? I, for one, will be looking for an update. I still haven't been able to get a fix on where you are: blue, red, purple state? -semi-rural setting (I think) - it makes a difference.

Here in my East Coast deep blue state, I have fairly often seen (last 20 months) young masked children (outside) run away from me (unmasked) in obvious fear. I don't see kids indoors much; 2 months ago - during stateside school kid mask mandate - I did see large numbers of young children exit from a school at dismissal time; my take: just about half the kids walking alone or in groups were wearing masks - numerous of those, below the nose. And also about half of kids-with-parents were NOT masked - I found that encouraging at the time.

Now, school mask mandate lifted about two weeks ago; I have seen mostly high school age kids outside of schools and masks are becoming rare - but, of interest, rather more common among minority kids - Af American females perhaps most common - except of course, for east Asian origin persons - I suspect they will retain high rates of mask wearing for the foreseeable future.

What age do you teach? - You are aware (?) that the CDC recently substantially downgraded verbal learning benchmarks - I don't recall precisely - something like an expectation of a 250 word vocabulary at age (?) 18 months to a 50 word vocabulary. Masks (I bet) will prove to have been a significant impediment to speech acquisition and the CDC is good at redefining - problem solved! (ha ha) The rulers have severely harmed countless children.

Meanwhile, Massachusetts "strongly recommends" discriminatory masking for unvaccinated students.

"Effective Monday, February 28, the DESE mask requirement was lifted statewide. Masking continues to be required in school health offices. As always, any individual who wishes to continue to mask, including those who face higher risk from COVID-19, should be supported in that choice. DESE and DPH strongly recommend unvaccinated individuals should continue to wear masks in school settings." https://www.doe.mass.edu/covid19/on-desktop/protocols/protocols.pdf
